It's traditional for the bride and groom to take turns dancing with their parents at the wedding. Often the father-daughter and mother-son dances are spotlighted. They are once in a lifetime dances, so they're worth preparing for.
If your parents are not able to attend dance lessons with you because they're not living in San Diego, we can work around that. Often, students will take lessons in separate cities prior to the wedding and then at the last minute they will have a lesson or two together just before the wedding. We've found that this can work out very well, and we are happy to keep in communication with Mom or Dad's instructor in another city. This will help us to insure that you are learning the same moves and to make it easier when you finally dance together.
Almost any song can be appropriate for these dances, so long as it doesn't have distinctly romantic lyrics. We've compiled a nice list of appropriate songs below to give you some inspiration in choosing your songs. Remember that Mom and Dad may be looking forward to these dances more than you know. Be sure to check with them and see if they've thought about a song – they may already have one picked out!
Hang out with us.
